Biography
Peach & Apricot is a collaboration between Mariya Takeuchi (竹内まりや) and Anri (杏里) who sing the theme song "Watching Over You" for the TV Asahi drama "The Men of the Wada Family". Takeuchi and Anri both débuted at the same time in 1978, and had long talked about wanting to do a collaboration together, which led to them providing the theme song for this drama. The unit's name, "Peach," comes from Takeuchi's signature song, "Fushigi na Peach Pie," and "Apricot" comes from the title of Anri's first album, "Apricot Jam."
Written and recorded during the global pandemic, Takeuchi commented, "I hope it will be a stylish cheer that will encourage everyone living in these uncertain times," while Anri commented, "It is precisely because we are living in such difficult times that I decided to participate in Peach & Apricot with the hope of delivering a wonderful adult pastime to many people through music."
