Biography

Porcas Borboletas is an independent Brazilian band formed in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, in the late 1990s. The group emerged from informal musical gatherings among university friends—Enzo Banzo, Danislau (Danilo Bernardes), Moita (Moisés Bernardes), Ricardim, and Lígia Viana—during a prolonged student strike in 1996 that transformed the campus into a cultural hub. Their early shows, including a memorable performance at a literature conference, featured short, humorous songs with playful lyrics—often read from handwritten sheets while the musicians struggled to suppress their laughter. Over the years, the band cultivated a distinctive style characterized by everyday themes, quirky humor, and an independent, lo-fi spirit that resonated strongly within the local underground scene. After a twenty-year journey, the group retains a loyal following; fans share personal stories of how the band's music accompanied their own discoveries and adventures, proving that Porcas Borboletas transcends its individual members to become a shared memory for its audience.
