Biography
Princess of Dirt is a musical project that emerged in 2025, characterized by its genre-defying blend of metal, ambient, hyperpop, and industrial music. The artist behind the project remains intentionally separate from their work, viewing the music itself as the "dirt" from which a personal kingdom is built. The central philosophy is that "everything can be given meaning," and that imperfection does not equate to meaninglessness.
The project's name and creative rebirth were inspired by a broken match, discovered during a period of creative doubt from December 2025 to April 2026. Unable to perform its basic function, the match nonetheless became a powerful symbol of finding purpose outside of conventional expectations. This symbol is featured on the covers of the EPs Pink Ash and What I Nee…D, which were originally conceived as a single album titled Perfect Match.

Musically, Princess of Dirt prioritizes mood and freedom over strict genre boundaries, a lesson learned from a previous, undisclosed failed project. Key influences cited include Trent Reznor, particularly for his mindset and approach, as well as Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Boards of Canada, Gorillaz, and Blur. The artist also acknowledges the impact of childhood obsessions with pop music, atmospheric indie games, and soundtracks from World of Goo, Minecraft, and The Sims.
The project's debut releases include two albums: everyone has a MAOA and playlist number four, 2006 version. The artist also maintains a "trash can" project on SoundCloud for unofficial releases. The album everyone has a MAOA was written three months after the artist first began using a DAW and explores themes of aggression and the "animal part" of human nature, drawing influence from Slipknot. In contrast, playlist number four, 2006 version is a deeply personal work, pairing sounds with 11 childhood photographs.
