Biography
Psychagogo was a Japanese punk rock band formed Tokyo in 1992 and disbanded in 1998. The band's core lineup consisted of Seiji Fukuda (vocals, guitars), Hiroyasu Mine (guitars), Kiyomi Teraoka (bass, vocals), and Taro Arie (drums). The group's sound is reminiscent of U.S. post-hardcore and noise rocks acts like The Jesus Lizard and Cows, although occasionally drifting off to other genres such as rambunctious twee pop (often with vocals by Teraoka) and even acoustic numbers. Their debut album, "Psychagogo Suck" was released by K.O.G.A. Records in 1995, and material for a second album was recorded at some point between 1995-1996 before being shelved and released as 2005's posthumous "Picnic in Altamont '69".
