Biography

RIP Magic are a London-based dance-punk and post-punk band formed in 2024. The quartet consists of Marco Pini, Felix Bayley-Higgins, Beth Boswell-Knight and Pedro Takahashi. The project began with Pini, a DJ, sound designer and member of the London band Sorry, and Bayley-Higgins, a visual artist who had been Pini's friend since their school years. Having previously collaborated on music, the pair established RIP Magic as a joint project before expanding the lineup with bassist Takahashi and drummer Boswell-Knight.

Their sound combines post-punk and indie rock with electronic production, dance-oriented rhythms and abrasive textures. Their influences and stylistic touchstones include 1990s experimental electronic music, European cold wave and industrial rock, alongside artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Suicide and Dean Blunt. Their approach also draws on more playful and danceable elements of alternative music, with comparisons to Massive Attack and Gorillaz.

Before releasing recorded music, RIP Magic attracted attention through a series of live performances in London, including sold-out shows at Mascara Bar. In 2024, their unreleased demos drew the attention of American rapper Tyler, the Creator, helping bring the group to wider notice.

The band released their debut double single, Loot / Dox, in 2025. In January 2026, they released 5words, a single produced by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, followed by Screwdark in May and Light Over There in July. Their live performances have included appearances alongside artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Tame Impala and Fcukers.

RIP Magic have released music through DFA Records and Section1, an imprint of Partisan Records. Their music combines the energy of dance-punk with experimental electronics and an emphasis on direct, performance-driven songwriting.
