" Uncatagorizable pop sounds from a band from the far North whose bizarre website describes them as comodities not people. It comes with an oddly packaged sleeve that is cloaked in yet more underhand conspiracy and confusion, like the sounds embedded in the vinyl. Pschedelic and (s)punky, the Shocks sound out-there, somewhere, not here, but oddly familiar. The un-natural combination of mutant elecronica, lazy guitars and androgenous spiteful vocals is just so amusing. I doubt these people have radios or have ever seen MTV. Easy sleazy pop songs for sure. I am very entertained by this. You may be too. Its Berlin Beatles as much as it obscure Krautrock. Or should that be Kraut-pop? Difficult to rationalise or describe. It is truly how pop music should sound. But very rarely does. Real Shocks seem to be a band of oblivious fools, flying in the face of fashion. For that one reason alone I want more. "
