Biography
In a basement lounge filled largely with less-than-reputable persons, Carl read his poetry to those who didn't want to hear it. He wrote good poetry, and the audiences he read it to would like it if they listened, but they never listened. The lounge manager pulled Carl off the stage and told him to never come back, and in a fit of rage he threw his notebook full of poems into the gutter outside, vowing to get a minimum wage job somewhere.
Ryan, a down-on-his-luck singer and musician, was walking home one night when he saw a man toss a notebook into the gutter. Intrigued, he picked it up and read the first page, which was a beautiful set of stanzas detailing the would-be romance of a boy and his amazingly gorgeous teacher, who is beautiful and compassionate beyond comprehension. Tentatively, that night, Ryan recorded a song using the poem as lyrics and a single guitar to back it, and was struck by its seemingly supernatural qualities.

The song was so disarming, naked, true and honest that everyone who heard it urged Ryan to find Carl, this king among men, and commission hundreds of songs, because the notebook, unfortunately, had gotten wet in the gutter and large portions of it were washed out or otherwise illegible. The search for Carl thus ensued, beginning at the underground lounge that Ryan had found the notebook near. The manager, though, didn't have an address as he had planned to pay Carl in cash, under the table. And thus, all leads were gone.
After two weeks of searching, Ryan had given up. His solo career was getting better; Carl's poem had served as brilliant inspiration, and his stage name - Revfitz - was becoming quite a popular attraction at local venues. Over time, he forgot almost entirely about Carl and his poem, until one night at a small coffee shop. The coffeehouse had been putting on small performances - new musicians, writers, that sort of thing - and Ryan was there to search for prodigies who could potentially help in the formation of a band. Nobody was any good.
Towards the end of the night, a man came in and sat down and listened to the beat poetry and laughed at almost all of it, jeering them and scoffing at each opportunity. Intrigued, Ryan went to the man's table and they got to talking. The legend goes that Ryan started talking about the song he had written - "Ode to an English Teacher" - which caused the man to explode into a flurry of swears. "What, what did I say?" Ryan asked, to which the man replied, "I wrote that!"
According to Ryan and Carl, they soon became friends and began work on more songs, the bulk of which they are preparing for release on an album sometime in the near future, to be titled "Soundtrack of the Dae." They are mum, however, on who or what "Dae" is. Fans of Revfitz and the Carl Kings, as they have come to call themselves, eagerly await the release of the album.
