happen. Fortunately for Ron, he was living in Chapel Hill, North
Carolina, where stories of musical magic have been written for many
decades. Ron met Jason, and Jason knew Walter, and Walter had been
playing with Garrett for years. And so it was that they became the Ron
Wayne Band.
With a shared love of soulful, powerful rock tunes of
every era, the foursome have delighted crowds of all ages. Of late they
have been developing songs of their own, and their debut album,
Wheel of Misfortune, will be released in early 2025.
In a landscape of new music that is increasingly prefab and made behind a desk,
listeners will find the organic grooves and thumping vibes a refreshing
return to the vitality of real rock performance. The first single,
"Antelope," is a head-bobbing rocker that covers a lot of ground,
moving in and out of brooding tension, wayward dreams, and
screaming catharsis. As for the rest of the EP, it is full of surprising
turns, veering from the glam side to rockabilly, funk, and even a ska
take on an '80s alternative favorite, The Cure's "Boys Don’t Cry."
