Biography
Serpent of Old is a Turkish blackened death metal band from Istanbul, renowned for their intricate, atmospheric blend of death metal ferocity, black metal dissonance, and progressive/doom influences. Emerging from Turkey's burgeoning extreme metal scene, the band crafts epic, narrative-driven compositions that evoke cosmic horror, esoteric lust, and existential dread, often drawing comparisons to luminaries like Ulcerate, Gorguts, Deathspell Omega, and Immolation. Their sound is characterized by twisting progressions, nightmarish shrieks, undulating tempos, and a paradoxical beauty in dissonance—creating immersive, haunting soundscapes that balance technical prowess with emotional depth.
