Biography
Smoke On The Water has one of the most recognisable riffs in the history of heavy metal. Ritchie Blackmore's growling and bass-heavy four-chord pattern sets the stage for this story-song, but there is much more to it than that. With swirling organ solos and a true-life narrative in the lyrics, Smoke On The Water more than stands on its own merits regardless of fame (or infamy, depending whom you ask).
