Biography

Spittle first started out by the name of Impure Disease; I believe that was back in the summer of 1998. Back then we knew what kind of music we wanted to play, but we were fresh on our instruments and that made our goals farfetched. We tried anyway, and received poor results.

Our first real song maggots eat the vaginal flesh inspired by our original bass player Derek Silloway, shocked many, but plain and simple sounded like shit. Later on we kicked our current guitarist Ben Landowski out, because we all agreed that Ben was lacking brutality. Speaking of brutality, about the same time we changed the band name to Fetal Pulp.

We then found a new guitarist by the name of Josh Coker. He definitely gave Fetal Pulp a new edge. With Josh we wrote three or so new songs, which were major improvements from our older material. We now were forced to change the name of the band once again. Josh thought Fetal Pulp was cool but from what we could tell, he wanted a name a little mellower. So after many suggestions, we discovered Spittle on accident at our band managers house (Sandi Plaza). That night we all agreed finally to the new name. Josh was good, but only played a few shows due to complications with our bass player. After a show in Wisconsin Rapids, Josh broke it to us that he wanted out.

Making a desperate move to keep the band alive, we called up Ben our previous guitarist and asked him if he wanted to come to a practice and show us what he had. After the practice we agreed to give Ben another shot. A few months later, after a very embarrassing show with Eternal Silence at the local band shell, we kicked Derek out. We couldn t tolerate Derek s style of playing.

We now needed another bassist. Our search ended fast upon the finding of Jason who was a major upgrade from Derek. We wrote a few songs with Jason, and everything went good for about nine months; when Jason s addictions got a hold of him. Our singer Jordan couldn t deal with it any more; so he took matters into his own hands. After many fights during and out side of practice, we decided to give Jason the boot.

Keeping the band alive we searched franticly to find a bass player so we could participate in the local high school s annual Battle of the Bands. Through talk around school Jordan found our currant bass player, Chaz Self. Chaz is by far the best bassist to be in Spittle. Months later complications arose again and we decided that Spittle needed a more hardcore style of vocals. Consequently, Jordan failed to show up at a show at Point Bowl in Stevens Point and we found a spontaneous replacement, Evan Clucas; he did very well that night for all improvisation.

Spittle sought out to remove Jordan, which pleased many; fans wanted to see a vocalist change from day one, and finally they got it. Very pleased with Evan s performance at the show, we asked him to try out. I think we all knew that Evan was going to work out even before he made it to practice and we were right. With a few new songs, we recorded our first Demo with Evan and Chaz. We have played numerous shows with the current setup and are very please with our sound. Right now we are experimenting with a new style stay tuned.
