Biography
Born in Cambridgeshire in 1974, dreams, moods, childhood memories in barren fenland towns and the supernatural, all underpin the work of Straightman.
The music itself is textural, eerie and anything but clean and digital sounding. Guitar pedals, microphones, analogue tape - all are used to give density to the sound. There is a strong emphasis on melody and the songs themselves are often melencholic and spooky in tone. Indeed, Ziggurat of Shun utilises samples of Electronic Voice Phenomenon, said to be the voices of the dead captured in tape static.
