Biography
TX2 is an American alternative rock project and band founded in 2018 by its primary singer, songwriter, and creative mastermind, Evan Thomas. Operating primarily as Thomas's solo brainchild—backed by a rotating live and touring band that includes guitarist Cam—the project originated in Fort Collins, Colorado. Initially, Thomas experimented with a hybrid of rap and punk rock under a moniker derived from his initials (Timothy Thomas). However, TX2 truly found its footing and explosive growth between 2021 and 2022 by leaning heavily into the nostalgia of early 2000s scene culture, utilizing platforms like TikTok to connect directly with a massive, dedicated fanbase of alternative music lovers.
Musically, TX2 bridges the gap between classic pop-punk, emo, post-hardcore, and modern alternative metal. Their sound swings between catchy, high-energy anthems with driving guitar riffs and aggressive, breakdown-heavy tracks featuring intense screaming vocals. Lyrically and culturally, the band is deeply rooted in themes of mental health advocacy, fighting inner demons, societal rebellion, and non-conformity. This focus on community led Thomas to establish the "X Movement," creating a supportive space for fans struggling with their mental health and cementing TX2 not just as a band, but as a vocal home for modern alternative outcasts.
