Melancholy Island Productions is an independent record label started in North Chicago, IL in the 2004. Melancholy Island Productions is filled with talented individual artists that specialize in the genre’s of Hip Hop, Rap, R&B & Techno music. Melancholy Island is not just about select genre's of music. We try and conquer as many genre's as possible. That versatility allows us to do east coast, west coast, down south, club music, and just about anything and everything you can imagine. Melancholy Island’s vision is to revolutionize the music industry by creating a unique blend of sounds and new adaptations to established genre’s of music unheard before. Our call is to provide high quality music on every track and every song and provide music that influences and moves our listening audience. Melancholy Island Productions is not just a production studio it is a culture. Melancholy Island, making it feel good to be melancholy.

Like most aspiring producer/songwriter/singers, Tai Christion started out making his own records as a teen because he couldn't afford to pay for studio time or producers when he wanted to record his demo. Counting self-contained producer/artist like Prince as his hero, it's been a long ride from being a college senior who had no music contacts - to overseeing studio sessions with the top unsigned musical artists.
The road was not easy, as anyone who has tried to make it in music would understand. Tai started out selling beats for $100 to anyone who would buy - a questionable career move for an aspiring actor/model. He stayed in the Chicago area for ages, taking on a photography job, and spending his nights in his room creating what his family called "noise & ruckus". Eventually, in the summer of 2003, he linked with a young group named LPG, and he produced a song that won a contest sponsored by J15 Magazine, earning them a performance at the famed Genesee Theatre in Waukegan,IL.
A few months later, the two had generated enough buzz as a producer/artist duo to score Street Kingz a record deal. In the meantime, Tai returned to a suburb of Chicago and began to making his own records again.
Most importantly, amongst all of his endeavors, he's campaigning as Tai Christion - the artist & producer. With a goal to fill arenas around the world where he has already been performing for small crowds of die-hard Melancholy Island fans, he is pursuing the dream that started his foray into music in the first place: being an entertainer. His live show is mystical, coming out the gate with some of the most masked performances ever. You would think it was Mardi Gras or Holloween.
Tai's daily schedule usually starts in the mid-afternoon and continues (with meetings, calls, rehearsals and studio sessions) into the midnight hours. He may complain, but thankfully, his approach to life is, arguably, extraordinary.
