Biography
TEMIC is an international progressive metal supergroup formed in 2017 by keyboardist Diego Tejeida, formerly of Haken, and guitarist Eric Gillette of The Neal Morse Band. The pair met while touring as backing musicians for Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress and decided to collaborate on a new project. Due to scheduling conflicts with other projects, active development was delayed until 2020. Tejeida and Gillette subsequently recruited drummer Simen Sandnes, formerly of Shining and Arkentype, and vocalist Fredrik Klemp, formerly of Maraton and 22. Bassist Jacob Umansky of Intervals contributed guest bass tracks to the band's initial recording session. The group signed with the record label Season of Mist and management firm Glassville Music. The band's musical style incorporates elements of progressive rock, progressive metal, and modern electronic music. TEMIC released its debut studio album, "Terror Management Theory", in 2023. The band followed this release with its second studio album, "Ceiba", which draws thematic inspiration from Mayan mythology regarding the sacred kapok tree and its connection to the earth, heaven, and the underworld.
