The Arcana's music is eclectic and has been influenced by many styles and genres. Their music has developed in many different directions since the band formed in 2016. Each album is very different in character and chronologically displays the depth and breadth in which their unique style is progressing. A direct comparison between The Arcana and other bands is difficult to make. The Arcana have been described as post-psychedelic, baroque rock, and contemporary bohemian. Much of The Arcana's unique style stems from their pursuit of adopting new and diverse sounds and moods to create a kind of symbiosis of melody and lyrics. The most celebrated hallmark of their music is the seamless integration of classical orchestral instruments with traditional electric guitar, bass, and drums. Instead of layering symphonic sounds on top of a rock track as an afterthought, they structurally arrange strings and woodwinds into a cohesive, genre-fluid experience. Their songs excel at creating a specific "mood" or mental space. Listeners note that their music often feels like a soundtrack where your mind is allowed to float away, making heavy use of varied tempos—shifting effortlessly from driving rock tracks to deeply delicate, moving ballads. The band’s lyrical content is routinely highlighted as deeply poignant and personal. They shy away from generic pop structures in favour of narrative-driven storytelling that targets complex themes, such as human connection, societal observations, and existential reflection, which has to be the band's most outstanding feature.
