Biography
The Darkest Romance is a Thai alternative metal and symphonic rock band formed in Bangkok, Thailand. The group was founded in the late 2000s around lead vocalist, bassist, and principal songwriter Thitiwat "Max" Rongthong, later solidifying into a stable four-piece lineup with guitarists Kongudom Jaithatkul and Pathasit Huayhong, alongside drummer Thanatchai Lueruk. Initially establishing themselves within Thailand’s underground independent music circuit, the band spent over a decade releasing conceptually heavy and atmospheric records, such as 70,000,000 - 1 = 0, คู่ (Pair), and LESSONS, before achieving broader mainstream attention upon signing with the major rock label Gene Lab (under GMM Music). Characterized by complex songwriting, cinematic orchestral arrangements, and unconventional song lengths—such as their critically acclaimed ten-minute epic "ความเยาว์ (Youth)"—the band addresses themes of existential isolation, human relationships, and emotional grief. Their musical style draws from a wide array of influences, including progressive rock, classical orchestral music, nu-metal, and post-hardcore, balancing aggressive instrumentation with deeply philosophical Thai lyricism. Beyond their work as a collective, frontman Thitiwat Rongthong is recognized as a prominent composer, producer, and orchestral arranger behind the scenes for several of Thailand’s major mainstream acts, integrating those sweeping, cinematic sensibilities directly into the band's identity
