Biography
Vladislav Delay, Antye Greie (also known as AGF), and Craig Armstrong collaborated to form a musical group called "The Dolls". Their collaboration resulted in the 2005 album "The Dolls", which featured a blend of Delays electronic soundscapes, Greies vocals and lyrics, and Armstrongs piano work. The trio also performed live, including at the Serralves Festival and the Triptych Festival.
The project began with Armstrong inviting Greie to collaborate on his 2002 album, As If To Nothing, according to the artists website. Delay later joined them, and they explored musical ideas together, including treating a Steinway piano digitally in Delays studio. The collaboration was described as an exploration of both soothing and child-like qualities in music, aiming to create something that could soothe frayed nerves and also be cathartic. The Dolls music is characterized by a blend of Delays experimental electronic textures, Greies unique vocal delivery and lyrics, and Armstrongs piano compositions and arrangements.
