The Jins
Biography
The Jins are a Canadian alternative rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Ben Larsen, drummer Jamie Warnock, and bassist Hudson Partridge.
The Jins formed in Vancouver in 2014 when Larsen and Warnock began performing together. Larsen later met Partridge while they were both studying animation. In 2015, the band's original bassist left shortly before a Halloween house party performance. Larsen subsequently asked Partridge to learn bass within seven days so that he could perform at the show, resulting in the three-member lineup that has continued since then.

The band's name, "Jins", is derived from the word "pigeons". According to Larsen, the name was inspired by the presence of pigeons in Vancouver, particularly in the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood, where he lived after moving to the city. He described pigeons as misunderstood creatures and said he identified with their presence in the city. The band's association with pigeons is also reflected in the cover art of their 2017 self-titled debut album, "The Jins", which features an illustration of a pigeon.
The Jins released their debut album, "The Jins", on Bandcamp in 2017. Their EP "Death Wish" followed in 2019. On May 18, 2022, their single "Metro" reached number two on the Canadian Breaking Alt chart. In 2023, the band released the album "It's a Life" through 604 Records. The album was produced by Dave Genn and mixed by Adam Kasper. In 2024, they released the single "Crutch" through the same label, which also reached number two on the Canadian Breaking Alt chart. The Jins have performed as a supporting act for artists including Buckcherry, Hockey Dad, and Rare Americans.
