Greg and Ian tried to make a name for the Spikes in London in 1986. However before they left The Spikes released Colour in a black forest. David Sly (The Advertiser April 1986, p24) describes this album as ‘The 10 songs show a greater melodic strength and harnessing of the band’s trademark of surging guitars’, and in August 1986 reviewed the album in The Advertiser concluding the review with ‘It’s a potent, throbbing album full of guitar, a big beat and irresistible tunes from one of Adelaide’s finest rock ‘n’ roll outfits’.

2)THE SPIKES are an Irish rock band formed in 2005 who have catapulted themselves to considerable success in a short time through a mixture of hard work, an ear for a 'killer melody' (Metro), an undeniable ability to 'mine a groove' (Hotpress) and a legendary live show that is undoubtedly 'energetic' and 'stylish' (Irish Times).

THE SPIKES have already released four singles, racking up chart success, critical acclaim and regular radio airplay. February 2009 saw the release of debut album 'Urges and Purges', a record that won attention from the Irish media, respect from industry mouthpieces and brought reward to the starved fans of THE SPIKES. WE ARE, their 3-track ep released in August 2009 signals the new evolution of THE SPIKES and is truely a celebration of 21st century rock.
