Biography
Thomas Fonnesbæk (born 1977 in Helsingør, Denmark) is an internationally acclaimed Danish jazz double bassist and composer. Widely recognized as one of the top contemporary bass players in Europe, he has evolved the instrument from its traditional timekeeping role into an equal solo voice. His musical style bridges technical virtuosity with a distinctively lyrical "Nordic sound" and deep rhythmic swing. He has also notably discussed having synesthesia, a neurological condition where he naturally experiences sounds as specific colors.
