Biography
Tim Catlin & Machinefabriek is a highly acclaimed international musical collaboration between Melbourne-based sound artist Tim Catlin and Rotterdam-based experimental electronics musician Rutger Zuydervelt (who records under the moniker Machinefabriek). Their unique bicoastal creative relationship relies on a distinct, multi-step production process. First, Catlin records raw structural sounds utilizing custom-made microtonal instruments, prepared guitars, or acoustic setups. He then sends these source recordings over the internet to Zuydervelt, who layers, sequences, loops, and dynamically processes the material into deeply immersive drone and ambient landscapes.
