Biography
Tokyo Manaka (東京真中) is a Japanese Vocaloid producer, lyricist, composer and arranger who began musical activities in May 2024 and works mainly in J‑pop and Vocaloid under the label FRIENDSHIP., releasing debut single “Night Glow” on 24 July 2024 and later gaining wider recognition with tracks such as “Brain Rot” and “Doomer” submitted to The VOCALOID Collection.
He previously played in bands during his school years but has stated that live performance was difficult and that he preferred avoiding frequent social interaction, which contributed to his focus on studio production and virtual singers. His stage name combines the long‑used internet handle “Manaka” from elementary school with “Tokyo,” chosen deliberately for its branding impact.

Tokyo Manaka’s work spans several voice synthesis engines, including VOCALOID, Synthesizer V and VoiSona, and his releases such as “Night Glow,” “Hyper Melt,” “Kaitan no susume,” “Brain Rot” and “Doomer” foreground electronic and indie‑pop influences while reconstructing them within a contemporary J‑pop framework. He is noted for close collaboration with video directors from the earliest planning stages of each project, agreeing on the concept before production so that music and visuals are developed in parallel rather than sequentially, and his songs are often framed around the idea of turning an “unseen night” into music.
