Biography
Now listen here, Tom Nash is a blues man. He lives in England, and sings them blues in a dull old town called Basingstoke, but have a listen and dig that this cat is coming from Nashville, TN or New Orleans or some other place where all these old blues cats come from. You can dig that this is where he’s singing from, you know, even if he isn’t living from. Which brings me nice and roundly (or even squarely, dig that man…) to his fine influences. Tom Nash likes them old blues men like Robert Johnson, Son House and Leadbelly… slightly later blues/R&B with the likes of Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James and John Lee Hooker… them sixties cats like Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones and Richie Havens (all that kinda scene man)… right up to modern day blues and garage bands such as the rather fine White Stripes, the incomparable Black Joe Louis, The Kills and that whole garage blues scene headed by the frequently delightful Ms Holly Golightly and Mr Billie Childish.
So if that’s the kind of things you like to dig, you might want to take a listen to Tom Nash, and make sure you ain’t listening to his colour, his age, or where he come from…this is a cat who feels it man, and if you feel it, them things don’t mean a thing.
