Biography
Formed in Paris, Île-de-France, in 2014, Véhémence is an epic medieval black metal outfit that fuses the relentless velocity of traditional black metal with sweeping chivalric melodies and authentic Middle Ages instrumentation. Founded as a project by multi-instrumentalist Tulzcha and vocalist B.R., the group immerses listeners in the grandeur, warfare, and folklore of French history.
Véhémence introduced their sound on their debut album, Assiégé (2014), before achieving widespread acclaim across the extreme metal underground with their sophomore effort, Par le sang versé (2019). Further expanding their line-up and thematic scope on Ordalies (2022), the band's signature sound seamlessly bridges blistering blast beats, icy tremolo-picked leads, and harsh shrieks with acoustic lute, flute, organ interludes, and triumphant French clean chants. Lyrically centered on knightly honor, medieval battles, and troubadour traditions, Véhémence stands as one of the premier forces in modern medieval black metal.
