Their first demo was recorded in 2000, followed by a second demo in late 2001 at Pulso Studios, produced by Alex Caicedo and featuring Claudio Contador of Raza as a guest vocalist. Around this time, the band began performing live. In early 2002, Alberto Parot joined as percussionist, adding a new rhythmic dimension that fit naturally into their developing sound.
Later that year, Sebastián Colombres left the band. Despite the setback, Weiza recorded the single “Auto-engaño.” Lineup changes continued, with Nicolás Colombres stepping down and Alberto Parot transitioning into the role of drummer. As new material took shape, the band entered the studio to record “Condenados,” which received airplay on Rock & Pop radio and led to a performance at the farewell show of Chilean band 2x before their European tour.
Weiza continued building a presence through live performances at venues such as SCD halls, Teatro Italia, Laberinto, Parque O’Higgins, Batuta, and Rockola. After an extended run of shows, the band paused live activity for seven months to focus on developing their debut album. During this period, their sound expanded beyond rock, incorporating elements of Latin music, pop, and hip-hop, along with a broader instrumental palette including piano, keyboards, percussion, brass, and strings.
In mid-October 2004, Weiza entered the studio to record their debut album. After six months of production, Buscando Metas was released, featuring Seo2 of Makiza as a guest artist. The album was promoted through the underground scene and received strong audience support.
With over 500 copies sold, the band grew its fanbase across Santiago and other regions, drawing solid attendance at live shows. Following nearly two years of promotion, Weiza shifted focus back to songwriting. After gaining media exposure through appearances on La Red and radio stations such as Carolina, FM Hit, Los 40 Principales, and Rock & Pop, the band applied for Chile’s FONDART cultural fund in 2008.
After securing funding, Weiza recorded their second album with producer Mariano Pavez, known for his work with Lucybell, Amango, Gonzalo Yáñez, Jazzimodo, and Jorge González. On this release, the band fully embraced the stylistic diversity that had defined their evolution, refining a more cohesive and personal sound. The production features contributions from brass musicians Manuel Muñoz and Héctor “Parquímetro” Briseño, as well as DJs Pezk2 and Tela, incorporating orchestral elements that marked a new direction in their sonic approach.
Lyrically, the album takes on a direct yet ironic tone, exploring themes tied to Chilean identity and everyday realities that are often overlooked. Titled Haga Sus Reservas, the record was released and promoted to a growing audience, continuing to expand the band’s reach beyond niche scenes and trends.
Weiza later announced an indefinite hiatus through their official website and Facebook page. In their statement, the band clarified that the decision was driven by external factors rather than internal conflict, describing it as a natural point to close a chapter. Fans subsequently organized campaigns on social media calling for a farewell show.
