Founded by veterans of the Australian extreme metal scene, Werewolves established a signature approach defined by fast-paced production and extreme tempo. Soon after their inception, the group signed with Prosthetic Records and released their debut full-length album, The Dead Are Screaming, in April 2020. The album introduced their aggressive style through tracks such as Showering Teeth.
Maintaining a near-instantaneous creative turnaround, the band released their sophomore full-length effort, What a Time to Be Alive, in January 2021. The record featured the single Sublime Wartime Voyeurism and expanded on the abrasive deathgrind sound established on their debut.
Prosthetic Records Era (2022–2024):
In March 2022, Werewolves issued a four-track EP titled Deathmetal, which paired original material with cover renditions of tracks by seminal extreme metal artists Deicide and Marduk. Three months later, in June 2022, they delivered their third studio album, From the Cave to the Grave, incorporating mid-tempo grinding arrangements alongside their high-speed blast beats.
Their fourth studio album, My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me, arrived in August 2023. The band followed this in July 2024 with their fifth full-length album, Die for Us. Marking the half-decade milestone of their existence, the record showcased tracks such as Beaten Back To Life and Spittle Flecked Rant, pairing aggressive rhythms with satirical spoken-word interludes.
Independent Output and Subsequent Records (2025–2026):
In 2025, Werewolves compiled their early body of work into a boxed set titled Encoffined - Worthless Noise for Worthless People. That same year, the group issued their sixth full-length studio album, The Ugliest of All.
Continuing their unbroken schedule of annual album releases, the band issued their seventh full-length studio record, You're Weak and You Know You're Weak, in 2026.
Musical Style and Themes:
Musically, Werewolves synthesizes the speed and brevity of grindcore and hardcore with the technical precision of death metal and the harmonic dissonance of black metal. Lyrically, their material centers around themes of misanthropy, nihilism, social critique, and dark satirical humor directed at online culture, political tribalism, and musical elitism.
(2) An indie pop band from Athens, Ga. fronted by Wyatt Strother. They have released two full lengths and two EPs on the label Athens Horse Party which is run by the band.
