2. Winston Smith is an alternative rock band from Omiš, Croatia.
The band was formed in late 2009 by a group of young, but experienced musicians (Željko Lipanović on bass guitar, Željko Kuvačić on drums, Ivan Ković on guitar and Frane Rogošić on vocals) who wanted to play covers of punk rock and alternative rock hits just for fun. Soon, another member arrived to the band: Nikola Vulić on trumpet, acoustic guitar and backing vocals.
The band rehearsed intensively and soon started playing live on various venues in Croatia. Soon the band started working on its own material, mostly alternative rock and grunge-oriented.
Finally, they entered studio in May 2011 in order to record a demo EP with five original songs. The recording sessions ended in July 2011, and the Winston Smith EP was published online in September 2011.
