Biography
Wreck of the Minotaur was a four-piece technical grind/mathcore band from London, United Kingdom. They took their name from the 'The Wreck of the Minotaur' oil on canvas painting by J.M.W. Turner, which was completed in 1810. The band originally consisted of members James Schwartz (vocals), Nick Hill (guitar), Iain Wilson (bass), and Lee Clifton (drums). Nick would leave the band in 2009 for work reasons. Sol Philcox would join on guitar and leave soon after, during the spring of 2009. Sometime after Sol's departure, the band would secure a guitarist position with Alex Gent (ex-Rosewest). Who would eventually leave in 2011. The band released their E.P 'A Little Roy One On One' in 2009. The title of the EP is a reference to the 1996 sports comedy film 'Kingpin,' which features Woody Harrelson as the lead character 'Roy'. During the band's existence, they would tour with The Boy Will Drown, U.K., and Burnt by the Sun from the United States.
