History:

The project blends elements of J-pop with experimental pop aesthetics and a dreamy, melancholic atmosphere, combining electronic textures with melodic pop songwriting. The group is managed by M.L&Co. Inc. and releases music through the label Southernmost Track’s.

yumegiwa last girl formed in 2020 as a Japanese idol group positioned within the alternative or “strange pop” scene. Their concept emphasizes surreal, emotional pop music paired with stylized idol performances and a shifting lineup of members using the shared stage surname “Yumegiwa.”

The group debuted in October 2020 and quickly began releasing digital singles across major streaming platforms. Early releases included the double single “SYSTEMATIC ROMANCE / KATACHI,” distributed digitally in December 2021.

Musically, the project mixes bright pop melodies with atmospheric production and introspective lyrical themes. Their sound frequently combines synthesizers with more organic instrumentation, creating a dream-like, genre-blending style that has attracted listeners both in Japan and internationally.

In 2022 the group released the album Universe, which further defined their cosmic and emotional thematic approach. Songs such as “Love Letter” appeared on the record and contributed to the group’s growing presence in the Japanese pop scene.

Since debut, yumegiwa last girl has undergone several lineup changes, a common feature in idol groups. Founding member Yumegiwa Risa serves as the group’s leader. Various members have joined or graduated over time, including Yumegiwa Rin, Yumegiwa Sara, and Yumegiwa Maaru.

The group has continued releasing singles such as “Be authentic,” “Superstar,” and “say my name,” reflecting their ongoing activity and evolving lineup.
