Biography

godfater. (stylized in lowercase with a period) is an acclaimed Hungarian blues, rock, and soul supergroup founded in the summer of 2021. The project is led by one of the country's great living guitar legends, Tibor Tátrai (affectionately known as "Tibusz"), a recipient of multiple prestigious honors such as the Kossuth Prize and the Liszt Ferenc Prize.

Origin and Formation: The project was born from the idea of bringing together elite musicians from different generations to create a raw, energetic, and visceral sound where guitars formed the absolute core of the composition. The band's original instrumental core was established with: Tibor Tátrai on lead guitar; Gergő Borlai (an acclaimed drummer and multiple-time "Musician of the Year" and international award winner) on drums; Mihály Gotthárd (Mike Gotthard) on guitar; and Dániel Usztics (Dani Usztics) on bass. Evolution and Current Style: Throughout its recent journey, the group has evolved and incorporated new voices and melodic nuances, adding powerful vocal and keyboard talents with a strong female presence. Charismatic vocalist Bori Hegedűs took the lead on vocals, accompanied by Dalma Felszegi on keyboards and backing vocalists such as Borostyán Bótyik and Lilla Kalocsa; this lineup imbues their live shows with a dynamic atmosphere that fuses the rawness of classic blues with modern arrangements and high-level virtuoso passages. Consolidation: With songs like "Elképzelt Hős," "Arcokat keresek," and "Játék az egész," godfater. has quickly become an undisputed benchmark of the Hungarian live music scene. They perform at prestigious venues—such as the House of Hungarian Music (Magyar Zene Háza)—and major festivals across the country, keeping the pulse of Central European contemporary rock and blues alive.
