History:

gulu gulu was a Japanese visual kei band formed in Tokyo in 2019. Emerging from the session project Karasuna Mei to Fuyukaina Nakamatachi (烏名 鳴と不愉快な仲間達), the group officially began activities on April 19, 2019, with a lineup consisting of vocalist Ai (哀), guitarists Lito (凛人) and Kazari, bassist Lanju (藍珠), and drummer Hotaru Chan (螢ちゃん).

Shortly after their formation, gulu gulu released their debut single Hen'na MERRY-GO-ROUND on May 28, 2019, in two editions: Mazui-ban and Umai-ban. Their rapid rise in the visual kei scene was marked by their first one-man concert on August 12, 2019, held at Ikebukuro EDGE. In September of the same year, the band expanded their reach through a studio performance livestreamed simultaneously on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitcast, and officially joined sun-krad Co., Ltd.

Their second single, Kubiwa Kyōiku no Susume, was originally scheduled for release in October 2019 but was postponed to November 5 due to a typhoon. Released in STRONG-ban and Taishuu-ban editions, the single further established the band’s theatrical and unsettling aesthetic. Around this time, gulu gulu also gained wider attention through an appearance in a video by MISTER YABATAN (ミスターヤバタン). On November 21, 2019, the band performed under the special name Norowareta Gulugulu-chan (呪われたぐるぐるちゃん) at Takadanobaba AREA.

In January 2020, gulu gulu held the one-man live PTSD Chiryou~Shishunki-hen~ at Shibuya ON AIR WEST. However, the band faced internal changes soon after, when guitarist Kazari lost contact with the group in February and officially departed in March 2020. Following his exit, gulu gulu continued as a four-member band.

The group released Guruguru Ryuushutsu Ongenshuu in May 2020, followed by Chuuzuri Shoujo in May 2022, maintaining their signature dark, experimental sound and eccentric visual identity. Over the years, they built a devoted following within the underground visual kei community.

On January 30, 2023, gulu gulu announced that they would suspend activities following their final live performance. Their last one-man concert, Heien (閉園), took place on March 17, 2023, at Tokyo KINEMA Club. The band officially ended activities on the same day.

Almost immediately after the activity suspension of gulu gulu, vocalist I (哀) and Rito (凛人) announced the start of their new project, and its associated Twitter account Mushozoku Aka (無所属垢). The account accepted followers until April 1st, at which point it went private.

Note that Mushozoku Aka (無所属垢) is not the name of the project, but of the associated Twitter account. The project was unnamed until September 2024 when they changed to an official band and reveals its name as I to Rito no Mushozoku (哀と凛人の無所属/Musyozoku). The band often plays gulu gulu songs.
