Biography
Founded in south England by two friends, subzar was originally conceived as a side project called 'somewhere between the zenith and ruin' - a phrase that remains at the heart of its diverse and colourful music today. Expanding in time with the addition of cello and violin to an acoustic quartet, subzar’s earlier post-rock instrumentals evolved into more compositional pieces replete with post-rock, classical and jazz influences.
A debut EP, 'i am not yet here', was released in 2012 with a narrative that tied together pieces written over several years. 2013 saw the release of the follow-up, 'pico', a lengthy and conceptual single work that showcases how far the quartet have progressed their compositional crafting.
