Biography

Juan José Duque González, known professionally as Juan Duque, is a Colombian singer and songwriter born on February 2, 1996, in Medellín, Colombia. He was raised in the nearby municipality of Marinilla, in the Antioquia region, an experience that has shaped his grounded perspective and connection to countryside roots.

Before fully committing to music, Duque was active as a content creator and member of the comedy collective Latiners while studying business. He began releasing music in 2018, gradually building an audience through social media and early singles. His style is rooted in urbano latino and romantic pop-urban sounds, often characterized by sentimental, emotionally direct lyrics about love, heartbreak, and personal experiences rather than aggressive or boastful themes.

Duque has cited Colombian icon Carlos Vives as a major inspiration, particularly for blending traditional elements with contemporary styles. He has also looked to Medellín’s successful generation of artists, including Karol G, J Balvin, Maluma, Feid, and Ryan Castro, as models for his career path.

His breakthrough arrived in 2023 with the hit single María, followed by a popular remix featuring Ryan Castro. That same year he released his debut EP, Qué Momento Pa' Estar Vivo, and embarked on his first major tour. In 2024 he signed with Warner Music Latina and released his first full-length album, Mis Traumas, Mis Chistes, which included notable tracks such as Lejos De Mis Ojos and Perdidos en Milan.

In 2025, Duque expanded his sound further with the Afrobeats-influenced collaboration Solcito alongside Miguel Bueno, a track that achieved significant international streaming success and viral attention. Subsequent releases have continued to explore a fluid mix of reggaeton, pop, bachata, and Afrobeats elements while maintaining his signature romantic sensibility.

Juan Duque has established himself as one of the rising voices of Colombia’s contemporary urban and pop scene, known for accessible melodies, heartfelt songwriting, and a willingness to experiment across Latin genres.
