Biography
Rană is a German black metal band from Braunschweig, formed in 2019. Combining black metal with Neocrust, crust punk and Post-Metal, their sound shifts between furious blast beats, tremolo picked riffs and driving D-beats, contrasted with crushing doom passages, melancholic melodies and atmospheric, chant driven sections. Their music balances raw aggression with an intense and emotionally charged atmosphere, moving between desperate urgency and moments of mournful reflection.
Rană's lyrics explore existentialism, self alienation and resistance, with an explicitly antifascist outlook. Their music combines personal anguish with broader social criticism, conveying a sense of despair while retaining an undercurrent of defiance. Across their releases, the band develops a sound that draws on the intensity of black metal and crust punk while incorporating expansive, atmospheric and doom laden elements.
