Biography
The Absolution Sequence is an Australian technical death metal band from nipaluna/Hobart, Tasmania, formed in 2013. The band combines crushing death metal with technical precision, progressive structures, groove-driven rhythms and atmospheric passages, creating a sound that balances sheer brutality with intricate musicianship.
Originally rooted in groove/death metal, The Absolution Sequence have progressively developed a darker and more technically focused approach. Their music is driven by complex guitar work, punishing rhythms, aggressive vocals and shifting arrangements, while atmospheric sections and dissonant textures add depth to their otherwise relentless attack.

The band's lyrics explore themes of mental illness, psychological struggle, isolation, existential decay and inner conflict. Their distinctly atmospheric character also draws from Tasmania's isolated landscape and its reputation as Australia's “dark isle.”
Following a series of independently released EPs and singles—including Tsuris (2016), Subsidence (2018), Silent King (2020) and Voidform (2023)—The Absolution Sequence released their debut full-length, Dread Cycle, through Bleeding Art Collective in August 2026. Produced by Chris Themelco and mastered by Jens Bogren, the nine-track album represents the band's evolution into a darker, more technical and atmospheric form of death metal.
