Urgehal
Biography
Urgehal is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Hønefoss in 1992 by lead guitarist and vocalist Trond Bråthen, known as "Trondr Nefas", and rhythm guitarist "Enzifer". Before disbanding in 2016, the band released seven full-length albums, four EPs and two demos. Urgehal reformed in 2022 to honour former members.
Trondr Nefas and Enzifer formed Urgehal in 1992. The band released two demos in 1994 and 1995. In early 1996, they signed with the German record label No Colours and recorded their debut album, "Arma Christi", that year. Their second album, "Massive Terrestrial Strike", was released in 1997. The band subsequently moved to Flesh For Beast. "Atomkinder" was released in 2001, followed by "Through Thick Fog 'till Death" in 2003. After Flesh For Beast ceased operations, the band's fifth album, "Goatcraft Torment", was released through its sister label Agonia Records in 2006. Later that year, Urgehal released "The Eternal Eclipse", a 15th anniversary album containing rarities and a photo booklet documenting the band's history. In 2007, the band signed with Season of Mist. Most of the material for their next album was written that year, but internal problems delayed its recording. "Ikonoklast" was released in early 2009.
